Chateau Jean Faux
Chateau Jean Faux, located not far from the Cotes de Castillon, is an historical estate that dates back to the 18th century. The modern era for Jean Faux began in 2002, when the property was purchased by Pascal Collotte, a former Saury barrel cooper. The estate consists of 45 hectares of woods, orchards, rolling hills and 11.5 hectares of vineyards, 80% of which are planted to Merlot and 20% to Cabernet Franc. The vines average 25 years of age and are planted to a density of 7,400 vines per hectare. Two hectares of vines are reserved for white grapes, consisting of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon. The terroir of Chateau Jean Faux is clay and limestone soils. Since 2011, the property now farms using only 100% biodynamic farming techniques in the vineyards.
