Plume Rosato is lovely, light-colored rosé wine made from 100% Nero d’Avola, harvested early, and bottled at only 11.5% alcohol. Plume is made by Michael Schmelzer, the winemaker at Monte Bernardi in Chianti Classico, who also makes Fuori Strada and a host of other well-known labels. The wine comes from one organically farmed vineyard in Camporeale, in the Trapani province of Western Sicily.
Plume Rosato Terre Siciliane IGT 2017
This is a bright, light rosé with notes of cherries and strawberries and excellent freshness. 11.5% alcohol, 6.3 g/l acidity and 3.4pH. The wine is made using the direct press method and then vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel vats where it is kept to rest for 4 months before bottling. The beautiful label was created by Rosanna, one of the vineyard workers who has worked with Michael for many years.
